Products and collections

Build product pages and product sections

Connect product data, choose media behavior and use real product cards on the homepage.

Prepare the product in Shopify

Add the title, description, price, media, variants, inventory and availability in Shopify. These are product records, not theme text. Use your own accurate specifications and care instructions. Reviews require genuine review data; the theme does not supply customer reviews.

Arrange product information

  1. Open a product template in the theme editor and select a representative product to preview.
  2. Open Product. Reorder blocks such as Title, Price, Variant picker, Quantity and add to cart, Buy buttons and Description.
  3. Use Collapsible row for information shoppers may want to expand. Use Line item property only when you need information attached to an order item; it does not create an inventory-tracked variant.
  4. Choose Gallery style, Image aspect ratio and Default image fit. Theme default inherits the corresponding values from Theme settings → Product.
  5. If you enable sticky add to cart, review its multi-variant option and test the selected variant, stock state and quantity on a phone.

Choose media behavior

Use Contain when the whole object must stay visible and Cover when a filled image frame is more important. Add additional images and supported product video through the product’s media area in Shopify. Video and 3D availability depend on the uploaded media and browser; 3D acceptance testing remains outside this draft’s completed checks.

Show products on another page

  1. Choose Add section → Product showcase in Products and collections.
  2. Set Products source to Collection, Manual products or Dynamic — based on cart. Select the corresponding resources where required.
  3. Choose Layout: Grid, Carousel, Slideshow or Marquee. Set Maximum products and the desktop/mobile item counts.
  4. Review the shared settings under Theme settings → Product cards for text alignment, descriptions, ratings and add-to-cart presentation.

Use Featured product for one detailed product with product-page blocks. Use Gallery for editorial images, rather than expecting a Gallery image to display a live price or add-to-cart control.

Check real buying conditions

  • Preview a long title, no-image product, sale price, sold-out product and a product with several variants.
  • Change the variant and quantity, add it to cart, then verify the cart line item and subtotal.
  • Pickup, accelerated checkout and volume pricing depend on your Shopify configuration and eligibility. Turning on a theme control does not create those services.

Optional hosted video captions

Create the definitions once in Shopify Custom data, then create entries and select them on each product. This optional feature needs no app. It follows the exact video file across Product, Featured product and Quick view. Video sections and Video blocks use their own editor fields; YouTube/Vimeo use provider captions.

Create a metaobject definition named Orveta video captions, type orveta_video_captions, with storefront read access and name as its display-name field. Leave the optional publishable capability off; if it is enabled in a compatible existing definition, entries must be Active.

Create a Product metafield named Video captions, namespace/key orveta.video_captions, type List of metaobject references restricted to Orveta video captions. Enable storefront read access and set a list maximum of 50.

  1. Create a caption entry with a recognizable Name and select the exact existing Product video using the file picker.
  2. Add a direct HTTPS WebVTT URL and matching language code, such as en, es or zh-CN. Set a player label or leave it blank to use the code. An external file host must allow cross-origin requests.
  3. Optionally add a second URL and matching language code. Both are required for that track to appear.
  4. Select the entry in the product’s Video captions field and save. Use one entry per video; the first match wins. Replacing a video file requires updating its caption entry.
  5. Read back in the product preview and Quick view: select each video, choose a language, switch it and turn captions off. Quick view starts with default caption selection when reopened. Test real phone/fullscreen controls separately.
