Section tutorials

Custom section

Compose a custom area from rows, columns and nested content blocks using the theme editor.

Where to find it

In Online Store → Themes, open the unpublished theme editor, choose a compatible template, then Add section → Custom section. Availability follows the selected template and section group.

This section is not available in the Header group.

Set it up

  1. Add a Row, then add Column blocks inside the row. Place Heading, Text, Image, Button or other supported blocks inside each column.
  2. Set each column's desktop, tablet and mobile width. Adjust alignment and padding at the column level.
  3. Configure the row's desktop direction, spacing and wrapping. Use mobile direction and gap for the narrow-screen arrangement.
  4. Enable the row slideshow only when you want columns to form a navigable sequence; set its columns and accessibility label.
  5. In a row slideshow, selecting a Column or its nested content in the editor reveals the corresponding slide.
  6. Choose the section background and spacing, then check the whole composition with realistic content.

Blocks and content

The following content blocks have their own setup and control reference. Nested blocks belong inside their parent, such as Slide, Tab, Tile or Story chapter.

Content and media

  • The section background and a column background are separate layers. Use a wide image for a full-area background and an appropriately cropped image for a column.
  • Cover fills an area and may crop; Contain can leave unused space. Preview the selected background size.

Check the mobile layout

  • Configure both Row mobile direction and Column mobile width. A desktop row of several columns often needs full-width mobile columns or a deliberate slideshow.

Common questions and fixes

  • Content is absent: add the missing Row → Column → content hierarchy.
  • Columns overflow: review the sum of widths, gaps, wrapping and the slideshow setting.

Full control reference

Names, choices, ranges and defaults below are read from this version of the theme. Defaults are starting examples, not promises about your business. Some controls appear only for the matching layout. Block contents and preset starting values can differ from the base defaults.
